Episcopal Youth Community

Sunday Nights

Elizabeth Attaway works on a roof during a recent REACH mission trip.

On Sunday evenings, dozens of teens gather to break bread and establish relationships over meals, small group Bible Study and an occasional game of capture the flag. The Youth Program at St. Michael’s draws teens and their friends from high schools and middles schools across Raleigh. Our teens learn from building relationships with each other and the community how to live Christ-centered lives.

When:

  • Jr. EYC: 5-7 p.m. (Grades 6-8)
  • Sr. EYC: 6-8 p.m. (Grades 9-12)

Where: Parish Hall and various locations throughout the campus

St. Michael's Episcopal Youth Community is rooted in building relationships with others as Christ builds them with us.

St. Michael's Youth Community is rooted in building relationships with others and with Christ

In our Sunday evening meetings, youth come together to learn, to discuss life, to play, to serve others and to pray. They gather for a meal prepared by EYC parents, then join small group leaders for time to talk and find out what’s going on with each other, and for prayer. This is always a lot of fun!

EYC on Facebook!

We’ve created is a facebook page where we will be sending out invitations for events directly to the youth (and any parents that are on Facebook).  There’s also a discussion board for kids to talk about EYC-related stuff. This is a public page, so you don’t have to be a member of Facebook to join the community.

This summer we spent a week in Peterstown, West Virginia, working on homes and building relationships with Jesus Christ, the residents of Peterstown, and with each other.

Weekday Programs

At St. Michael’s, we believe it is important to provide opportunities for our teens to slow down and take time to reflect on their busy lives and on God’s purpose for them. We offer weekday gatherings for Bible study and prayer for both high school and middle school students, often after many of our youth have participated in one of our choir practices. We also provide a stellar youth choir program. New voices welcome.

We also take plenty of great trips:

The Vineyard

Each fall members of our EYC and adult leaders head for the hills for a weekend retreat in the N.C. mountains, filled with plenty of time to build relationships through prayer and group time, and infamous Capture-the-flag games.

Youth Mission with REACH Workcamps

June 17-24, 2012

Each summer, dozens of St. Michael’s youth and adults pack their work clothes and head out for a weeklong mission. In the past 10 years, they’ve helped rebuild homes and lives in West Virginia, Tennessee, and most recently the Gulf Coast, forging new relationships with teens from all over the country and solidifying those with the kids they know back home. Would you like to contribute to our mission? We’re selling doughnuts each Sunday! Help send one of us on our mission by buying lots!

Junior High Reality Check — July 16-20, 2012
