CREATION CARE

The Creation Care committee’s mission is to lead projects that benefit the environment and care for God’s world, such as the installation of 100KW solar panels on the church. We coordinate with the Chartered Committee for Environmental Ministry of the Diocese of North Carolina, which focuses on ministries in energy, water and food. We are looking for volunteers with a passion for God’s creation to work in teams on projects to value, protect and care for our environment.

Creation Care Curriculum

Love God, Love God’s World (LGLGW) is a nine-week, film-based course for Episcopalians, “anywhere on the journey with creation care and environmental ministry.” I am currently in training as an LGLGW facilitator, and along with others from our team, plan to offer the films and lead group-based discussions at St. Michael’s this winter. With the films, readings, passages from Scripture, faith-based reflections and insightful questions, participants will discover together ways to “learn, pray, advocate and conserve” and become:

Comfortable speaking about their faith, care of creation, and climate change

Personally transformed and invited into different levels of personal and collective engagement on creation care and eco-justice

Confident about where to find creation care resources and information.

Season of Creation

The Rt. Rev. Samuel Rodman, XII Bishop Diocesan of North Carolina, is one of 42 diocesan bishops who authorized the Season of Creation 2024 — A Celebration Guide for Episcopal Parishes. It is a resource of prayers, readings and liturgies especially useful during this season (September 1, the Feast Day of Creation, to October 4, the Feast of St. Francis Assisi), but appropriate at other liturgical celebrations as well.
